"The ability to inherit the persona of her characters makes it a fascinating listen, a glimpse of what lies not just in her heart, but in all of ours. "

Hillary Epstein and Meghan Cary are new York based performers who are currently touring as a duo, in support of a pair of fine self produced efforts most worthy of support. Cary began making music through her then partner. Upon his tragic death two years later, she decided to "begin making my own music... it was the best way I knew to deal with the loss I was experiencing." Under such difficult circumstances it might be easy to write songs with are cathartic to the artist, but indulgent to the listener.
Surprisingly, her six song CD is anything but, focusing more on the growth that follows loss and the virtue and neccessity of perseverance. New shoes has been recognized by Billboard Magazine as one of its "Critics Choice," noting its "poetic flair reminiscent of Shawn Colvin and the Indigo Girls."
Cary is also an accomplished actress, having earned her M.F.A. from Florida State. The ability to inherit the persona of her characters makes it a fascinating listen, a glimpse of what lies not just in her heart, but in all of ours.
